Bruce Goettler - Biography

Bruce Goettler bio picture

Bruce grew up in good old Butler, PA. He is a strong drummer with over 35 years of playing experience both locally and "on the road" from Mississippi to Saskatchewan and from Nebraska to New York.

After several years of piano lessons early in his musical career, Bruce found a toy snare drum and a pair of sticks at a friend’s home and began a lifelong love affair with everything percussion. His early experience included 3 years in the Butler High School marching band, drummer in the pit band for the school musical, and also the high school Jazz Lab Band.

Over the past several decades, he has performed with many bands in the Butler area including “Edgewater”, “Fat Chance”, “Fourcast”, “Centerfold”, “Full House”, “Roulette”, “Show Down”, “Full Circle”, “Generation Gap”, “Expense”, “Becker’s Brew”, “Exit 3”, and “Cheap Thrillz”, just to name a few. Bruce has been influenced over the years by great music drummers like Buddy Rich, Jeff Porcaro, John Bonham, Don Brewer, Ian Paice, Kenny Aronoff, Phil Ehart, and many more. For the past 10 years he has taught countless lessons to young drum students in the Butler and surrounding areas.
Bruce prefers the dynamic sound of miked acoustic drums and cymbals over the synthesized electronic variety. His kits consist of a mix of Yamaha, Ludwig & Slingerland drums, with Remo & Evans heads, and various Zildjian & Sabian cymbals.
